Teaching (Overview)

I have loved music and dreamed of becoming both a performer and teacher since I was seven years old, when I began my first music classes. The encouragement and guidance I received from my teachers shaped not only my musicianship, but also my belief that teaching is one of the most meaningful responsibilities a person can have. In my studio, I aim to create the same supportive environment—one that builds skill, confidence, and a lifelong connection to music.

Teaching Philosophy

My teaching is rooted in the idea that every student deserves a clear path from the practice room to the stage. I focus on building strong fundamentals—tone, breathing, articulation, technique, and musical phrasing—while helping students develop efficient practice habits that lead to consistent progress. I believe confidence is trained, not simply hoped for, and I guide students through goal-setting, performance preparation, and strategies for managing pressure in auditions, competitions, and recitals.

As both a performer and educator, I emphasize musical storytelling and artistry alongside technical development. I help students connect analysis to interpretation, so they understand why something works musically—not only how to play it. Drawing from my experience in higher education teaching and my Orff Schulwerk background, I also incorporate creative, body-based learning strategies when appropriate, especially for younger learners, to strengthen rhythm, listening, and musical independence.

Above all, I aim to teach in a way that is encouraging, structured, and empowering—so students leave each lesson with clarity, motivation, and practical tools they can apply immediately
